Concern is an innovative and dynamic development and humanitarian organisation, currently working in the districts of Nsanje, Mwanza, Chikwawa and Nsanje, implementing programmes in Food Security & Resilience; Health & Nutrition; Gender Equality and Education.

The RAISE Programme was designed to increase food and nutrition security for vulnerable households in Malawi. Specifically it will enhance resilience to food shocks of chronic and acute food insecure populations. The programme will target Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP) households in Chikwawa, Mwanza, Neno and Nsanje districts. Primary target group will be those that have exited
the Government SCTP and the programme will also work with the broader community with various components of a resilience package.

Field Monitor-Case Worker– 25 positions

Purpose of the role:
The role will coordinate, implement and facilitate Concern Worldwide programmes at the household
level, with support from PSO Graduation, Team Leaders, supporting the delivery of the graduation component of the RAISE programme.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Identifies and verifies, in conjunction with the Team Leader and PSO Graduation, beneficiaries and farmer groups to participate in the programme.
  • Directly implements activities (together with local partners) and trains beneficiaries in a number of
    graduation related modules, which may include agricultural, agribusiness, natural resource, gender, and health and nutrition related issues according to needs.
  • Be responsible for (up to 45) households setting their semi-annual, and annual goals, as well as related targets, with regular coaching and mentoring support visits as needed
  • To provide timely and appropriate support with regard to households income generating activities,
    management of their assets and building social and business networks.
  • Provide input into the development of capacity building plans, training curriculum and visual IEC materials and assists in the elaboration of training documents in collaboration with the Team Leader and PSO Graduation
  • Coordinates with other staff including PSO Graduation, PSO Livelihoods, PSO Gender, PSO M&E and the PSO VS&L in the delivery of household activities
  • Coordinates cash and asset inputs supplied to beneficiaries in close cooperation with the Team Leader
    and Programme Manager
  • Ensures that all project interventions are carried out with full participation of the community and other
    stakeholders and as outlined in the project/agreement and in accordance with the organizations programming principles
  • Coordinate and facilitate implementation of capacity-building activities with at TA and VDC level, to promote and ensure long-term sustainability of service delivery at community level
  • Carry out assessments and surveys (including those using digital data gathering devices) in collaboration with the Programme Manager, Team Leader and other Concern Worldwide field staff and provides recommendations for the adaptation of project strategy according to findings and needs.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly plans and reports on her/his activities and submit to the Team Leader;

Credentials and Experience:

  • Minimum qualification of Diploma in the field of Gender and Development/ Agriculture/Agronomy/Community or Rural Development / Social Work
  • At least 1 years’ experience in as an extension worker and enumerator for a community based, agricultural livelihood project.
  • Experience in community targeting and registration, coaching and mentoring, training,data collection and carrying out surveys
  • Experience in supporting community based extension systems including use of Lead Farmers in implementation of community and household activities, agriculture and agribusiness planning and environmentally sustainable farming/NRM systems
  • Good written and spoken English, strong facilitation, reporting and communication skills
  • Able and willing to ride a pushbike.
