Pakachere Institute of Health and Development Communication is a leading Malawian NGO specializing in Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) and the delivery of high-impact HIV and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. We are dedicated to empowering Malawians to adopt and sustain healthy behaviors through evidence-based communication, community mobilization, and the provision of stigma-free healthcare for key and priority populations.
To support our mission, Pakachere seeks to recruit highly competent, proactive, and self-driven individuals for the following positions:
Drop-in Centre Manager (Clinician/Nurse)
Reporting to the District Coordinator, the Drop-in Centre Manager (DIC Manager) will be responsible for providing clinical services to key population specific Drop-in Centre as per the national guidelines. S/he will deliver HIV related services ranging from HTS, Oral and Injectable PrEP, STI screening and treatment, cervical cancer screening, Risk Reduction Counselling, ART and follow up on those that are on treatment to ensure treatment adherence. S/he will work closely with nearest health facilities. Specifically, s/he will:
Ensure effective day to day operation of the Drop-in Centre.
Maintain a clean and well-arranged centre and create a friendly and accessible environment for key population.
Assess clients who come for services appropriately and establish health care needs, diagnose and treat common health conditions under his/her jurisdiction according to Ministry of Health and Medical and Nurses Council’s policies and provide referral services where necessary.
Follow up on all referrals made and ensure that clients received the services and data correctly captured for clients accessing HTS, STI treatment, antiretroviral treatment and adherence to treatment.
Build a sound working relationship with health care workers from nearby health facilities, project Peer Educators and Peer Navigators.
Provide risk assessment and risk reduction counselling and facilitate health education sessions for clients who come to access services.
Where necessary, support outreach clinics offering a range of HIV services in identified hotspots.
Ensure good quality clinic data and adequate commodities consumption records, calculate consumption and make requisitions on time to avoid stock-outs.
Develop and implement worksite plans for the Drop-in Centre and deliver performance indicators across the assigned area as per the program work plan.
Collect client data and store appropriately to ensure that confidentiality is maintained and be directly responsible for ensuring that all the required national reporting tools are correctly filled and submitted on time to the District Coordinator and DHO or the designated district office.
Document lessons learnt and challenges to inform program decisions.
Submit daily services data using real – time online data platforms
Qualifications & Experience
Hold a Diploma or a Degree in Nursing/ midwife/clinical medicine from a recognized training institution and in possession of a registration certificate issued by the Nursing or Medical Council of Malawi.
At least three (3) years’ clinical experience
At least two years’ experience working with key population.
Good oral and written communication skills (English and Chichewa).
Computer literacy in the use of MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Working knowledge of online data collection tools (ODK/Kobo/SurveyCTO)
Ability to work and deliver results with minimum supervision.
